Major auction includes southern Knox County farmland, timberland with recreational potential

A 1,694-acre Knox County farm that includes cropland, timber and recreational potential will be offered at auction Tuesday, Oct. 25, with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company conducting the event.

The farm includes large amounts of contiguous land and productive soils, with 1,427 acres consisting of FSA cropland. It will be offered in 15 tracts ranging from 34 acres to 300 acres, according to Brad Horrall, co-manager of the auction.

"The wooded tracts include mature hardwoods and abundant populations of White Tail Deer and Turkey," said Horrall.

"The tillable land has productive soils including Petrolia, Nolin, Haymond, Armiesburg, Sylvan and Iona," said R.D. Schrader, president of the auction company. "The considerable amounts of contiguous tillable land allow for efficient operations as well as the possibility of irrigation, using abundant water from the White River. Some of this land has not been offered for sale in many years," he said.

The auction will begin at 6 p.m. Eastern Tuesday, October 25 at Highland Woods Community Center in Vincennes. Online bidding will be available for those who register in advance.

Auction personnel will be available September 27, October 5, October 17 and October 25 to accommodate inspections and provide detailed information. Call 800-451-2709 for specific times and location.
