To be Offered at Public Auction
Well known Wayne County Farm south of Milton, Indiana to be offered for public auction on November 5, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. by owner, Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana. Earlham College received the Druley farm through an estate gift from devoted alumni, Ivan M. and Pauline Kniese Druley. Ivan graduated from Earlham in 1929 where he was captain of the football team and earned varsity letters in basketball and track, Pauline graduated in the class of 1931. Ivan spent much of his professional career at Hayes Track Appliance Co. Pauline taught at the Milton School, worked in the Earlham President's office and was later secretary for the Indiana State Senate. Ivan passed away in 1998 and Pauline passed away in 2014 at the age of 105. Ivan and Pauline lived on the Highway 1 farm for many years, raising sheep and grain; receiving the Hoosier Homestead Centennial designation by the State of Indiana for 100 years of family ownership.
Avis Stewart, Earlham Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Community Relations, was a long-time personal acquaintance of the Druleys and shared that “Ivan and Pauline were great supporters of Earlham athletics during their lifetimes. Their very generous estate gift follows their passion and will transform the Earlham Athletics and Wellness facilities in significant and long term ways. We are incredibly grateful to them and the legacy they have created.”
The farm is located on Highway 1 and Bentonville Road and has a circa 1870 farmhouse, unique granary barn, 294 acre crop land and 22 acres in Classified Forest. The sale will be conducted by Schrader Companies, Regional Farmland Specialist, with an office in Centerville. The farm will be offered in six Tracts on November 5th at 6:00 p.m. at the Golay Community Center in Cambridge City, Indiana.
