Farming equipment shows strength in $5.9 million Schrader auction
Tractors, combines, sprayers, potato equipment and other farm machinery drew more than 350 bidders Thursday for an auction that resulted in total sales of $5,925,000, with Schrader Real Estate and Auction Company managing the sale for Lincoln Farm LLC.
More than 350 bidders from 16 different states and Canada turned out for the auction, according to Nick Cummings, who managed the auction for Schrader.
"I knew we would have a good crowd, because we had a large, high-quality inventory, and our auction provided an opportunity to obtain good equipment for less than comparable new machines would cost. As it turned out, we had bidders from as far as Canada, Maine and New Jersey, and the turnout led to a very good outcome for our seller," said Cummings.
"It was also good timing for the farmers, because they'll have the equipment in place in time for the current crop season. Demand was especially strong for the tractors, combines and the full line of potato equipment. Many factors point to a continuation of strong commodity prices, and that translates into more demand for quality farm equipment," he said.
